Actor Vikram salutes people of Chennai with emotional, inspiring video

MUMBAI: Almost six months after Chennai faced the extreme wrath of nature through what was later concluded as one of the worst calamities the city had ever faced, several popular personalities saluted the extreme courage of the locals through tribute songs and similar efforts.

From Parliament to film cities, influential voices and faces came together to provide support in more ways than one. The latest tribute comes through Southern Superstar Chiyaan Vikram's conceptualised composition titled 'Spirit of Chennai: Humanity Universal'.

Almost 12-minutes long, the video captures the spirit of the people of Chennai that rose up to the occasion despite all the adversities and obstacles. Beautifully captured in the video, the common people of Chennai provide an emotional perception of the life in the city, post-floods. Sung in Tamil, the song speaks about the relentless bravery portrayed by the people of Chennai during and post-calamity.

The gist of the song reflects the attitude of the locals and sheer humanity shown, instead of panicking and fleeing away from the problem. With actors like B-town's Abhishek Bachchan, south Indian actor Khushboo, choreographer and director Prabhu Deva and several others contributing to the essence of the video, the mentioned biggies applauded Chennai's most beautiful element - its people. Released on YouTube under Sony Music India channel two days ago, the video has already crossed half a million views. The song was unveiled on 2 January 2016, and the lyrics were penned by Madhan Karky, Gana Bala and Rokesh.
