People have started recognising the Worli Festival: Shibani Kashyap

MUMBAI: Singer Shibani Kashyap, best known for her out-of-the-box approach towards music, did something different at the Worli Festival last weekend - she collaborated with violinist duo Feeriya for her performance. This is not the first time that the artiste has collaborated with another artiste at the Worli Festival. Kashyap collaborated with an opera singer at the festival in 2014 and in 2013, she played an unplugged set with a few musicians.

"People have slowly started recognising the Worli Festival. In fact, it witnessed a very good turnout this year. The three days of the festival simply rocked," said the 'Ho Gayi Hai Mohabbat' singer.

Kashyap added that she collaborates with other musicians and artistes because she likes getting a fresh element in her performances.

She also revealed that 2016 is a big year for her as she has given a few of her songs to some big banner films. She will also be working on singles with Saregama. As per the deal, Kashyap will release one single every month under the label. The first single to be released under the same is symphonic jazz song 'Ajeeb Dastan Hai Yeh.'

Kashyap believes the digital medium has opened up unlimited possibilities for an artiste. "One does not have to hold on to his/her creativity anymore. The digital medium is available to express one's self. So, if you have a song, you need not wait for a label to release it. One can just put it on YouTube. After all, the younger generation is no more on TV. They are on the digital platform," explained the singer.

The 'Sajna Aa Bhi Jaa' singer is looking forward to the Artist Aloud Awards 2016, where she has been nominated for her song 'Dil Kahey.'
