Kailash Kher's 'fangirl' moment at SulaFest

NASHIK: There is a thin line between a devoted follower and an obsessed fan and as a musician with a fan-base that goes beyond the boundaries of regions, Kailash Kher has witnessed them all.

The 42-year-old experienced another 'fangirl' moment at the recently concluded SulaFest 2016 in Nashik.

Kher opened the set with his band 'Kailasa' on day two of the festival, and the much-awaited performance of the ninth edition of the festival surely lived up to its expectations. However, midway into the set, Kailash Kher, the people's man, invited a few women from the crowd to join the band and dance as the singer sang some of the band's euphoric singles. But soon things went a bit amusing. One of the girls who joined Kailash Kher on the stage, hugged the singer out of sheer excitement and love, and the vocalist was, understandably, surprised.

"Fans express their love in several ways. During my set at SulaFest, I invited a few girls on the stage, and one girl tried to hug me. She had her arms around me, and there was no way I could escape. She even tried to kiss me on the cheek. However, these things have happened in the past and one learns. I ensured I escaped from her grip without offending her, and making myself uncomfortable," recollects Kher.

Kailasa's music talks about romance and expression of love, but little did Kher expect such a form of expression. One can blame it on the "wine tasting" or the bracing Nashik weather, or maybe it was just Kher's intoxicating voice that led to another disconcerting position for Kher and his bandmates.
