Second edition's success proves Drum-e-Baaz is here to stay

MUMBAI: Mohit Gopalani’s endeavour went from strength to strength with the success of the second edition of ‘Drum-e-Baaz’. The event, curated and founded by 26-year-old Gopalani, focuses entirely on drums. Through the event, Gopalani has managed to showcase some of the talented promising drummers from the city.

For the second edition, Gopalani ensured the bar was raised and the outcome did not disappoint. On the success of the second edition, Gopalani said, "The selection of the backing tracks, the way students practised, the focused approach towards the show and the execution of the same was totally on a different level this time. This was really appreciated. Not just that, but the ones who unfortunately couldn't attend the show certainly did regret their absence."

Gopalani's obsession or undying-love for drums didn't begin with initiation of 'Drum-e-Baaz'. The drummer founded 'Musical Vibes' as an effort to teach aspiring drummers about the instrument and the music revolving around drums. Moreover, the drummer embraced and executed the added responsibility of promoting the event in every effective way possible. "I am trying my best to promote this initiative on as many platforms as possible. Thankfully RadioandMusic, Youth Incorporated, Furtados Music have been supportive all throughout. I want to reach out to more people and share about Drum-e-Baaz. Hope this interview will help in many ways to do so," hopes Gopalani.

Over 100 people turned out to witness Gopalani's baby turn 2. With RJ Sucharita (Radio City) and Alfred D'Souza (The Stop Gaps Choir) to support the initiative, six performers helped turn the second edition into a success story.

But Gopalani takes pride in other things that came with the success of Drum-e-Baaz II. "Emotional, Proud, Happy, Grooving to the songs, were the emotions I could notice of most people sitting in the audience. Looking at the little 8 year old girl play the drums with so much of dedication and passion certainly inspired a lot of people towards music and drums. More than me, the people and students are eagerly waiting for the ‘Season 3’," proudly mentions Gopalani.
