Raghu Dixit to try his luck in Bollywood next year

MUMBAI: Raghu Dixit, who is currently mentoring contestant on #Fame’s ‘Websinger’ might be the next big thing in Bollywood in the new year for the fabulous Indie artist is about to try his luck there.

Dixit, who has composed music for ‘Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge’ and ‘Bewakoofiyaan’ -- in the past, wants to get back to composing for films. And while he did compose for films in the past, with the help of his friends, this time he is looking at going all out.

“I got those films through Ashish Patil – who also happened to be the producer for ‘Mujhse Fraaandship Karoge’ – who has been a great friend. So, that is how I got promoted to the mainstream,” revealed Dixit. But, the musician never tried cashing in on Bollywood, preferring instead to get back to the independent scene. “I never appeared on TV interviews, stating that I am a music composer for a film because somewhere consciously I knew that I was not prepared for this,” he added.

The singer revealed that he felt the need to work on his skills as a music composer back then, which eventually took him back to learning the nitty-gritty of music composition. With his musical guns loaded, Dixit is now all set to face Bollywood once again. “I will start knocking on Bollywood doors next year,” said the ‘Hey Bhagwan’ singer.

Furthermore, talking about his stint on #Fame ‘Websinger’ Dixit said, “This is for the first time that I am part of the jury for any competition, and I think I am more scared than the contestants,” said Dixit, adding, “I am experienced musically, but when it comes to judging another person, I am not experienced. I am the only mentor who is not trained musically inside out like the other musicians on this show. I cannot recognise ragas or read and write music notes. If you sing a phrase I cannot tell which sargam it is. I have no clue about me being here, but I am excited. The talent is incredible. There is variety. We have chosen six contestants. I had to be really cruel.”

Dixit maybe unsure about his association with ‘Websinger’ but he is sure about inspiring them. “I may not be of great help to them technically, but I can inspire them to do what they are doing,” he averred. He further said that most contestants on reality shows see some fame attached to it but he wants people who really love music to be a part of this show.

Dixit, along with his band- The Raghu Dixit Project will be performing at NH7, Pune on 5 December 2015.
