Preeti Pinky release single 'Sawariya' for Navratri

MUMBAI: Bollywood singing duo- Preeti Pinky, is best known for the track ‘Piya Piya’ from the film ‘Har Dil Jo Pyaar Karega’, which bagged a few nominations and was also well received by audiences. And from this year onwards, the two have begun releasing singles, with the latest one titled ‘Sawariya’. The track, which was released under Times Music, was composed by Ravi and was penned by Rajiv and Mona.

“We thought Navratri was the best time to release the track because our song had garba beats. We even performed the song during our live performance during Navratri, and it received a great response from the people. The intention was to make people dance and they did,” said Preeti, one half of the duo. The singer is grateful to Times Music for the kind of support the label has rendered them.

Preeti and Pinky, who released their first single ‘Maula Maula’ in January this year, performed on all nine days of the festival of Navratri in Mumbai. The move, albeit new to many current singers, has been a long time tradition for Dandiya Queen Falguni Pathak. Speaking about the comparison between them and Phatak, she said, “Falguni Pathak has more experience in this because she has been doing this longer than us. Even her singing style is very different as she includes a lot of Bollywood songs in her performances, while we have a lot of folk songs in ours.”

Further explaining their annual Navratri performances, Preeti stated that the band starts rehearsals a month earlier, and are constantly selecting songs for their live performances. Speaking about their song selection process, the songstress explained, “No one can say what will work and what will not, so the simple way is to follow your heart and select songs accordingly.”

The duo is also preparing to release an album in a few months. The new release will see the two experimenting with their sound, as it will feature quite a few peppy numbers. While they have recorded a few tracks for Bollywood, Preeti and Pinky will focus on their live shows for now.
