From break-up album, Adele grows to deliver make-up album '25'

MUMBAI: When she was 21 years old, Adele started writing her sophomore album titled after her age at the time, much like her debut album ‘19’. The now 27-year old British singer has announced her follow-up album titled- ‘25’.

The pop/soul singer announced the release date of her new album (20 November), with a soul-touching song, ‘Hello’, the first from her upcoming record. The new 11-track album comes three years after her 2011 release ‘21’, which won her six Grammy Awards.

About her new album, Adele said, "My last record was a break up record and if I had to label this one I would call it a makeup record. I am making up with myself.”

However, since her last album, the ‘Someone Like You’ singer released just one single- the Oscar wining, James Bond theme- ‘Skyfall’ in 2012. Earlier this year there were rumours that Adele was offered the 2015 James Bond series’ ‘Spectre’, which she rejected, following which it went to another Grammy winner- Sam Smith.

Adele will be making up for lost time and making up for everything she ever did and never did, she stated in a letter, which was issued as an apology to her fans.

She also tagged turning 25 as the turning point of her life.

Penning her feelings in an open letter to her fans, she concluded, “25 is about getting to know who I have become with realising. And I am sorry, it took so long, but you know, life happened,” concluded the mother of one.

‘Hello’ is available to stream and download from 23 October, and also has a video directed by celebrated young Canadian director- Xavier Dolan (Mommy, Tom at the Farm). The video was shot in Montreal’s countryside, and has already garnered more than two lakh views on YouTube since its release, less than 24 hours ago. The track was first previewed as a 30-second advert over a week-end episode of ‘X Factor’, raising the hopes high of Adele fans. The teaser featured her singing one line of the new track, with lyrics over a black screen.
