Prime Minister Narendra Modi and B-town wish Lata Mangeshkar on her 86th birthday

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi wished singing queen Lata Mangeshkar on her birthday.

The Prime Minister said, "Warm birthday greetings to Lata Didi. I wish her good health and joy." Born in 1929, Mangeshkar turned 86 on 28 September 2015.

Apart from the PM, Bollywood music industry wished her on her birthday. Javed Akhtar, Rishi Kapoor, Shaan, Kailash Kher, Sonu Nigam and others, took to Twitter to wish her.
Mangeshkar's career started in 1942 and has spanned over seven decades. She has recorded songs for over a thousand Hindi films and has sung songs in over thirty-six regional Indian languages and foreign languages, primarily in Marathi and Hindi.

She is the elder sister of singers Asha Bhosle, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Usha Mangeshkar and Meena Mangeshkar.

She is the second vocalist after M. S. Subbulakshmi to have ever been awarded the Bharat Ratna.
