Slash coming to India; tickets to go on sale this week

MUMBAI: One of the greatest guitarists of all time- Slash, is coming to India and will headline the latest edition of ‘MTV Indies Extreme’ - India’s only rock music and adventure sports festival. Slash, featuring Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, will be performing in India as part of their world tour to promote the album ‘World on Fire’, in November.

Rock fans in Indian who have long waited to see the former Guns 'n' Roses guitarist in action will be able to do so on 7 November in Mumbai, followed by another performance in Bangalore on 14 November. Ticket for both shows will go on sale from 25 September, 2015. However, venues are yet to be finalised. BKC or Reliance Jio could be one of venues in Mumbai, where the group will play.

In the past, Slash has attempted coming to India twice, but on both occasions things did not work out. The most recent was in 2013, when he announced an India tour, which unfortunately was cancelled due to logistical problems. However, this time round, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee is certain of performing in the country.

Commenting on his India tour, Salsh said, “I am really looking forward to taking our 'World On Fire' tour to India for the first time ever at MTV Indie Xtreme.”

Band members including Slash, Myles Kennedy (lead vocals), Todd Kerns (bass and vocals), Brent Fitz (drums), and Frank Sidoris (vocals and guitar), will be promoting their new album ‘World on Fire’, which will be released in India in October. ‘World on Fire’ is Slash's second studio album, featuring Myles Kennedy and The Conspirators.

The first edition of ‘MTV Indies Extreme’ took place in New Delhi last year, with heavy metal band- Megadeath headlining the festival. However, for this edition organisers have left Delhi out, and have moved to two new cities.

LIVE Viacom18 SVP and business head Jaideep Singh said, “The first edition of this festival met with a very good response as for ‘the first time’ we showcased a platform that uniquely combines good old rock music and adventure sports which worked well with younger audiences.”

Singh added further, “First year with Megadeth and now with the debut tour of all time rock legend- Slash, MTV Indies Xtreme enter into a new phase and it will only get bigger from here on.”

MTV Indies EVP and business head Aditya Swamy said, “MTV Indies continues to spread its wings with these mega concerts which will become an annual feature and the biggest showcase of rock music in the indie scene.”

MTV Indies will also be launching a playlist titled ‘Xtreme’ on its mobile app and as a slot on the channel, which will feature a hand-picked selection of rock songs “to feed the soul of every indie fan.”
