Kremlin denies Elton JohnÆs claim that Vladimir Putin spoke on Russian homosexuals

MUMBAI: British singer Elton John on Tuesday said he has spoken over telephone with Russian President Vladimir Putin about the situation of homosexuals in Russia. However, according to reports, the Kremlin has firmly denied that Putin contacted John on gay rights.

John took to Twitter to inform this development.

The famous British singer visited Kiev last weekend where he backed Ukraine against external aggression and called on the country for greater tolerance towards homosexuals.

He had then said he would like to speak to Putin about the situation of homosexuals in Russia, where human rights organisations claim that the rights of the group were violated.
