MUMBAI: Sajid Shahid is one of the leading fashion photographers of the country based in Delhi and has worked for many renowned fashion brands like Biba, FabIndia, Rangriti, Neva, Madame, Carlton London, Shop clues, Myntra, Amazon etc. He has also shot for many cover page of magazines with celebrities like Fitlook, Enlighten India, Beauty Magazine Italy etc. He has beautifully captured well known celebrities like Sanjay Kapoor, Sunil Grover, Pearl V Puri, Helly Shah, Zain Imam, Randeep Rai, Vikas Gupta etc over the years.

Sajid has now advanced into Direction and is using his vast knowledge and creative experience into directing some amazing music videos. He is also the founder of an independent music label called ‘Yellow Tape Records’. It has only been a year into direction and he has already done 10 music videos 5 of them are already released.

Being a photographer for 7 years now and then delving into music, how has your journey been?

Photography has always been my passion. As a young lad I always loved capturing my surroundings and people, my inclination towards the camera was surreal. My journey has been nothing less than a dream for me. I started with very basic shoots in my career and today I shoot for some of the best brands and magazines. This industry has always been very welcoming for me. My experience has been great throughout. The only key to succeed in this artistic filed is to work hard and to learn something new everyday.

You direct different music videos how did you get into the directing and producing?

As a artist I always love exploring and doing new things. No doubt photography was my forte but when i got a chance to direct I grabbed in the opportunity instantly. My first music video as a director was “Mere Mehboob” which was released by Saregama. The video gained a lot of popularity and then I decided to direct and produce more music videos. I have shot more than ten videos since then and even own a music label now.

How does film making interest you?

 Directing films and web series is my ultimate goal. But as they say, I am taking it one day at a time and for sure if something really interesting comes up you never know I might direct a film in the coming years.

Your upcoming new project

My upcoming music video is “Jaate Jaate” which is releasing on 19th Nov,2021. This song is very close to my heart since I have written the lyrics for this one. This is one video which is my personal favourite and I am really hoping that the audience loves it.

Being an owner of music a label I have to keep my involvement in the process of song making and we are working on some exciting projects and did some experiments with music we have made some songs with combination of soft rock music and punjabi lyrics also we have created some groovy dance numbers with regional touch in the music.

We are ready with the songs for all occasions and ready to blast in the market.

What excites you the most photography or direction?

 Well ,that’s a very tough question to answer. My love for camera knows no limits so yeah be it photography or direction I put my heart and soul into any project that I take up.

Future plans of your label ‘Yellow Tape Records’

Sajid he shared his future plans for his music label. Yellow Tape Records is always looking for fresh talent and has also signed few renowned singers, Music Directors and lyricist. They are coming up with back to back new single tracks, many of which are written by him. His ultimate aim is to become a film director. Music has always been his passion and he promises to continue making some amazing songs for his audience.
