Dopeadelicz: We are being the voice of people and standing against injustice, equality and discrimination

Dopedaddy and Stony Psyko from team Dopeadelicz  released a track titled ‘Vishama’, from their upcoming album ‘Mapulz’. Vishamais a Tamil track that speaks to the true reality of our country. ‘Vishama’ which means poison, highlights the brutality of situations due to negligence, inequality, and injustice.

The song written and performed by both Rajesh Radhakrishnan aka Dopedaddy and Tony Sebastian aka Stony Psyko have showcased various scenarios playing out today, where people have lost their humanity. Even though they have legal bodies and institutions to protect them, common people are facing ever-increasing injustice.

 The video has been artistically curated to depict these stories. The characters illustrate the agony and pain of not being able to voice their opinions.

To get to know more about the track we spoke to Tony Sebastian aka Stony Psyko and Rajesh Radhakrishnan AKA Dopedaddy. The duo have shared a lot more about their thoughts, visions and a lot more.

What made you come up with the name “Vishama” ?

Tony Sebastian: We started writing the lyrics before deciding the name and towards the end of the song we wanted more powerful lyrics to conclude our song and that is where we figured out the name Vishama for the track. The track illustrates how our country is getting poisonous due to various problems.

Rajesh Radhakrishnan AKA Dopedaddy: After writing the lyrics of the song we did a same recap of the things that we spoke or highlighted needs Very strong name for the song, and we named is Vishama (poison) referring all the negative things happening around.

When do we see the whole album releasing?

Tony Sebastian: We are planning to release it this year 2020. Its has delayed due to the pandemic situation we all going thru.

Dopedaddy: It was suppose to be out in April however due the lockdown we had to change the entire plan album should out soon in 2020.

You have been creating music in various languages. Which language do you enjoy most when it comes to composing music?

Tony Sebastian: Every language has its own flavour and audience. But writing in Tamil has been more interesting cause that’s our roots.

Tell us a little about your journey. How has your music been more appreciated after your recognition for gully boy?

Tony Sebastian: It’s been a great experience working with the ace director Zoya Aktar in the movie gully boy. We are now able to reach out to a wider audience and a lot of new people are taking interest in listening to underground hip hop artists.

Launching a new track during the lockdown could be challenging. Do you think a digital launch could impact the song or its buzz?

Tony Sebastian: We have always believed in our content and we feel the right content needs no promotion. But still there are difficulties like not being able to perform your new releases for your audience.

What is the overall message you would want to give out through the release?

Tony Sebastian and Dopedaddy: We need to care about our planet and its people despite colour, religion or race. What we are trying to be the voice of people and standing against injustice, equality and discrimination

What is the vision of Dopeadelicz in the coming years?

Tony Sebastian and Dopedaddy: We want to build a sustainable platform for younger artist in our area and support the independent and underground music culture. We all have all lot plans in near future apart from Mapulz album. And few new ideas and concepts that would give Hip-hop in India a boost in our country.
