Mumbai as an audience is very moody- RJ Adaa

MUMBAI: RJ Adaa, an eight year old veteran in the radio space, has an endearing life philosophy - one that manifests beautifully in her vibrant radio persona - 'a cheerful expression every minute and a smile to every living creature'.

Her journey with Radio Nasha has commenced only recently but it seems the radio station is already serving her the best. “Radio Nasha is treating me like a celebrity. Every evening I do the show s a treat in itself,” enthuses Adaa.

"I have been born and brought up in Mumbai and before Nasha, I used to do a morning show on one of the radio stations in Bahrain. I returned to Mumbai as the city has always been the first choice for my career," she adds.

For all those who know a little about her, would definitely love to imbibe more about the vivacious personality. She hails from a background where no one had ever stepped close to the radio industry, except for listening.

The bubbly RJ breaks into infectious laughter when prodded to reveal more about how she started off on a radio career. “Well, RJing happened all of a sudden. Once one of my friends was going for an audition and I accompanied her for the same. Surprisingly, I wound up with the RJ position myself,” she shares.

Her evening show with Nasha strikes a chord among listeners. She explains, “One element that makes my show special is my emotional instinct. I am quite an expressive person and through Nasha, I grabbed an opportunity to make people revisit memories with the retro songs with which they were emotionally connected.”

“I do not believe in offering heavy information or boring stuff as my show starts in the evening when people need a relaxing hour. Therefore, I give them music. I let them enjoy the maximum and make them have ‘Chutti Wali Feeling’, trying to take them to a fantasy world.

“In the noisy confusion of life, keep peace in your soul”- this is how Adaa connects with radio and her listeners. Through her different qualities she also holds sway over a huge number of fans. Her eyes twinkle as she shares some crazy fan moments in her life.

“I have had lots of fan moments. I have so many sweet and adorable listeners. However, there is one listener, wherever he goes to Shirdi or Tirupati down south, he always gets ‘Prasad’ for me. In fact, he brings all those things for me, that I mention on air as my favorites!”

About her Mumbai listeners, Adaa has this to say. "Mumbai as an audience is a very moody audience. They do not have craze for celebrities like other cities do. It is difficult to entertain them as they get bored easily."
