Warner Music Group posts loss in third quarter

MUMBAI: Warner Music Group saw revenue fall in the third quarter as well, as the company posted a wider quarterly loss and disappointing revenue. It's Warner's sixth consecutive quarterly loss as the recording industry continues to struggle. The world's number three music company based on recorded music sales, said its net loss for the third quarter ended on June 30 widened to $55 million, or 37 cents a share, from $37 million, or 25 cents a share, a year earlier. Revenue fell 16 percent to $652 million from $773 million.

iPhone 4 Sales Approved by South Korea's Regulators

MUMBAI: South Korea's telecommunications regulators have recently approved the sales of Apple's iPhone 4 in Korea. It was supposed to be released in July, but was delayed for further examinations and reviews. KT Co., South Korea's largest telecom operator, have the exclusive rights for the sales of the iPhone 4. However, they have stated that it could take up to two months before the iPhone 4 will hit the stores.

BBC Urdu will transmit six daily bulletins in Urdu and Pashto providing vital information including how to stay safe, avoid disease and access aid.

Music Industry Unites to Fight Online Piracy

MUMBAI: John-Paul Ellson, Chair of the Canadian Council of Music Industry Associations (CCMIA), announced, today, the CCMIA's joining Balanced Copyright for Canada coalition, a national organization that advocates taking Bill C-32 as a starting point for bringing Canada's copyright into the digital age. Bernie Finkelstein of Balanced Copyright for Canada's Advisory Board welcomed CCMIA's support. The Advisory Board of 14 members includes Roger Mooking, Steven Ellis and Andy Stochansky, among others.

DAVP tops default list with Rs 66.71 mn arrears to AIR

NEW DELHI: The Directorate of Advertising and Visual Publicity (DAVP), a unit of the Information and Broadcasting Ministry, tops the list with arrears of Rs 66.71 million among 45 agencies owing over Rs 100,000 to All India Radio. A total of Rs 997.37 million was owed to Doordarshan by 23 defaulting agencies as on 31 March this year. Doordarshan collectively earned a revenue of Rs 1.43 billion for the first quarter of FY'11 while All India Radio earned Rs 447.83 million in the same period.
