Aural to visual- RJs make smooth transition to TV

MUMBAI: They have wowed us with their endearing voices, witty banter and smart talk. The new breed of RJs however is unwilling to let their talents hide just behind the microphone. An increasing number are now taking baby steps into the more glamorous world of television. Here's a look at some of them.

RJ Sidhu

RJ Sidhu, who is best known for his Fever FM show ‘Nanachi Tang’ recently, did a cameo on Colors’ show ‘Thapki Pyar Ki’ where he played the role of RJ Rahul.

This is not the first time Sidhu has made his appearance on television. He hosted ‘TV Ka Pehla Radio Show’ on Sony Mix.

RJ Pritam

RJ Pritam, who is a friendly personality on both radio and television, swayed the listeners with his entertaining side and distinct style of humor.   He is famous for his participation in the controversial reality show ‘Big Boss’ through which he grabbed huge popularity. He also hosted one episode of India’s Got Talent. Apart from this, Pritam Pyare essayed as a villain in Manisha Koirala starring film ‘Escape from Taliban’ and tickled our bones in ‘Comedy Nights Bachao’.

RJ Malishka

Malishka Mendonsa acquired vast fame through her morning show ‘Morning No.1 with Malishka’ on Red FM, Mumbai. Though she is active on radio, she has left her charm on television too. She was first seen in a reality show Connected Hum Tum on Zee TV where her aim was to find a suitable man with whom she can settle down. To explore more, she entered the popular dance reality show Jhalak Dikhhlaa Jaa Season 7 as a wild card contestant.

RJ Neelesh Misra

The RJ who managed the listeners to remain glued to the radio is none other than Neelesh Misra. Misra who is well- known for his show ‘Yaadon Ka Idiot Box with Neelesh Misra on Big FM’ is also a well-known lyricist, Bollywood scriptwriter and more. For the first time, he was seen on the television screen as the narrator in Life OK's show ‘Baawre’.

RJ Mantra

Mantra, who worked as a Radio Jockey for more than a decade started working with Radio Mirchi, then Radio City and finally Big FM. Later on, the entertaining RJ tried his hands at acting with a show ‘Lagegi’ on Bindass. He also hosted a dance reality show ‘Zara Nachke Dikha’ on Star Plus and ‘India’s Got Talent Season 5’ on Colors.

RJ Anmol

RJ Anmol shot to fame because of his radio show ‘Purani Jeans’ on Radio Mirchi. He currently works as an RJ with Radio Nasha and has been an active face on television for quite some time.

He anchored a sports show on Stars Sports and ‘Baaton Baaton Mein’ on Sony Mix.

RJ Siddharth Kannan

Siddharth, who joined Times FM as a Radio Host and become the youngest radio host in the country, entered the Limca Book of Records and this record has not been broken until date. He is known as one of the pioneers of radio in India. He hosted his first TV show in 2006 –’Santa and Banta Newz Unlimited’ with renowned singer and rapper Baba Sehgal on Zoom. In 2010, Sid started his next TV show ‘See Taare Mastiii Mein’ –An ‘A list’ celebrity chat show on Mastii.  In 2012, he was the commentator on ‘Ring Ka King’ on Colors. In 2014, he was one of the hosts of Star Sport Pro Kabaddi and in the same year, he was the host of the inaugural season of the Champions Tennis League on Sony Six.

RJ Sana Amin Sheikh

One of the renowned faces on television includes the name of female actor Sana Amin Sheikh.  She has been working with Radio Mirchi since 2004 and is popular for her the show ‘Khubsurut Sana Ke Sath’. She is currently doing a Colors’ show ‘Krishandasi’ as a lead actor. Her work in television has been long listed. Besides, films like Singham and Table No. 21 are also in her kitty.

RJ Smriti Kalra

Another popular face from television is of Smriti Kalra. She started her career as an RJ with Red FM and hosted various radio shows. Smriti gained attention in television sphere with the Zee TV show ‘12/24 Karol Bagh’ followed by other shows- Suvreen Guggal - Topper Of The Year, Itti Si Khushi, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya- Season 4.

Games
