10 monsoon songs that you must add to your playlist

MUMBAI: The rains are finally back!!!

Yes, after a long hiatus the rain gods have finally blessed Mumbai and we are sure that the Mumbaikars are making the best of it, sitting around plates of bhajiyas and cups of hot tea. But, isn’t some good music a must too?

Well here is a list of some of the best rain songs that will definitely make your day. You can also add them to your playlist.

Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si: ‘Ek Ladki Bheegi Bhaagi Si’ from the 1958 film ‘Chalti Ka Naam Gadi’ is a classic number. It is a fun son sung by Kishore Kumar, and also features him alongside Madhubala. This is one song that will definitely make you tap your feet.

Rim Jhim Gire Sawan: ‘Rim Jhim Gire Sawan’ from the film ‘Manzil’ (1979) is a song picturised on Amitabh Bachchan and the beautiful Moushumi Chatterjee. While the director of the film Basu Chatterjee has two versions of the song, the one with Bachchan and Moushumi enjoying the rains is more appealing. Musically, however, both versions are outstanding. RD Burman’s music is classic while vocals by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar are melodious.

Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein: This one is yet another RD Burman song sung by Kishore Kumar and Lata Mangeshkar. ‘Bheegi Bheegi Raaton Mein’ from the 1974 film ‘Ajnabee’ is a romantic, fun number featuring Rajesh Khanna and Zeenat Aman. Just like all RD Burman and Kishore Kumar songs, this one too leaves an impression on your mind and touches your heart playfully.

Sawan Ka Mahina: This is a beautiful song from the film ‘Milan’ (1967), starring Nutan and Sunil Dutt. ‘Sawan Ka Mahina’ is depicted beautifully with the film’s lead pair singing on a boat. Every scene of this song compliments Laxmikant Payrelal’s music. The song is sung by Mukesh and Lata Mangeshkar.

Tip Tip Barsa Pani: ‘Tip Tip Barsa Pani’ from the 1994 film ‘Mohra’ is another popular monsoon song featuring Raveena Tandon and Akshay Kumar. It is a seductive number sung by Alka Yagnik and Udit Narayan. Akshay and Raveena look smoking hot in the song, while the music sounds soothing.

Rim Jhim Rim Jhim: ‘Rim Jhim Rim Jhim’ is a refreshing RD Burman song that is sung by Kumar Sanu and Kavita Krishnamurthy. Manisha Koirala, who plays a lead role in the 1994 film, ‘1942 Love Story’, looks extremely innocent and beautiful number, while Anil Kapoor looks completely in love with her. Their naive romancing in rain is the highlight of this song.

Sawan Barse Tarse Dil: Akshay Khanna and Sonali Bendre look like youngsters in love in ‘Sawan Barse Tarse Dil’ from the film ‘Dahek’ (1999). It is a pretty love song connected with rains. Singers Alka Yagnik and Hariharan have done a commendable job on the track.

Nahi Saamne Yeh Alag Baat Hai: This is an AR Rahman heartbreak song from the 1999 film ‘Taal’. ‘Nahi Saamne Yeh Alag Baat Hai’ is a must hear for one and all as it touches the soul completely.

Ghanan Ghanan: From the 2001 film ‘Lagaan’, ‘Ghanan Ghanan’ is yet another AR Rahman song. The music is very different from usual Bollywood soundtracks, but like most of Rahman’s work, it is a must hear.

Barso Re Megha Megha: Shreya Ghoshal voice, AR Rahman’s music, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan’s performance and Mani Ratnam’s direction make ‘Barso Re Megha Megha’ a spectacular song. The track is from the 2007 film ‘Guru’ and is definitely one that would make you want to dance in the rain.
