MUMBAI: Ariana Grande has released the heartfelt music video for her second single, "We Can't Be Friends (Wait for Your Love)," from her latest album, Eternal Sunshine. Drawing direct inspiration from the 2004 film.
Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind*, the video showcases Grande's character, Peaches, contemplating undergoing a procedure to erase memories of her ex, portrayed by Evan Peters, at Brighter Days Inc. Throughout the video, Grande questions whether she can maintain a friendship with her former lover while reflecting on their shared memories.
Despite attempting to halt the process as she recalls happier times, Peaches ultimately moves on, depicted alongside Peters' character with new partners in the closing scenes. Grande's album, heavily influenced by the film, features collaborations with Max Martin and Ilya Salmanzadeh, including "We Can't Be Friends," which follows the success of lead single "Yes And?"—a Madonna-inspired house track that debuted at Number One on the Billboard Hot 100.
