After successful flicks like Rang De Basanti and Delhi 6, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra is back with a story of ‘The Flying Sikh’- Milkha Singh in an upcoming biographical film Bhaag Milkha Bhaag. The film features Farhan Akhtar in lead role and Sonam Kapoor who plays his love interest in the film. According to reports, Milkha Singh had sold his nerve wracking journey that includes the days of partition for just one rupee.

The music of the film is composed by the talented Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and lyrics are penned by Prasoon Joshi who is also the script-writer of film. There are seven original tracks and one rock version of theme track.

‘Maston Ka Jhund’ is rendered by Kumar. Punjabi beats has heavily influenced this track that is accompanied by some naughty lyrics. This is a situational based track which is proved by its video that has an energetic dance performance by Akhtar and a group of actors. The funny lyrics complement the video.

Guitar movements with percussions welcome the listener into the track ‘Mera Yaar’ which has sufi lyrics and beautiful rendition by Bashir. The lyrics are deep and unfold the story behind the track. The video of this track highlights the brewing love between the protagonist and his love interest. This is a wonderful track.

Shankar Mahadevan’s son Siddharth has rendered the track ‘Zinda’. This track has heavy drums to deliver an impactful song describing the journey of life. The chorus is in-depth. It is a heavy rock track that will attract the youth.

Daler Mehndi gives voice to this spiritual track ‘Gurbani’ which is a short prayer in case you’re hoping to hear more than you missed the whole point of this spiritual track.

Arif Lohar earns the theme track ‘Bhaag Milkha Bhaag’. Lyrics are simplified with the uncomplicated music. And for listeners who need flavour then there is rock version for it rendered by Siddharth Mahadevan. The rock version gets speed and energy of the track. This will surely click among the youth.

Slow Motion ‘Angreza’ is mix of bagpipes and retro feel. The song completely goes off track compared to the rest songs of the film. One will have to wait to see the situation where this track is placed.

‘O Rangrez’ is a brilliant song based on pure romance with a heavy influence of classical music that adds soul to the song. The magical voice of Ghoshal mixes with Bashir’s vocals and creates a fabulous effect.

SEL has delivered an enjoyable soundtrack. The lyrics of the music album is very powerful and links ideas smartly.
