MUMBAI: Tagged as the youngest boy band of pop world ‘One direction’ has created quite a stir in the music industry by winning the best single at Brit Awards 2012.   Destined to be together, the British- Irish band (Niall Horan, Zayn Malik, Liam Payne, Harry Styles and Louis Tomlinson) met on UK’s reality show ‘The X-Factor’. Today the band is embarking on their global career and is working with some of the greatest producers in the music industry.

Failing to make a mark as individuals and later qualifying as group, the musical journey of the band is an exceptional roller-coaster ride of success. ‘One direction’ shared their experiences of working together, “The very first thing which struck us was that we don’t know each other. We were just contestants. We had too many questions running in our minds. It was completely an impromptu attempt which luckily turned out to be fabulous for us. It’s a gratified moment for us to be clubbed together and called as the youngest boy band.”

The teen-pop band ruled UK Charts with the release of their debut single ‘What makes you Beautiful,’ which has earned the highest first week sales of 2011. The band’s debut album ‘Up All Night’ was the sixteenth biggest selling album on the UK Albums Chart of the year, with the sale of 468,000 copies.

After the success of their album in UK, teen-pop band recently released their debut single on digital platforms and is all geared up to launch their album in United States on 13 March 2012 under Columbia Records. Ecstatic on the success of the album ‘One direction’ expressed, “Up All Night is our dream come true project. The debut song has created history. And now Up All Night follows the suit.”

For promoting the album the band will now be a part of ‘Better with U Tour’ along with American group ‘Big Time Rush.’ The band is a part of ten-city tour kick-started from 17 February in Las Vegas.

As part of X-Factor, the band has also collaborated with renowned singer Robbie Williams. “The time we came to know that we gonna perform with Robbie Williams on a national TV show, it was a dream come true. The experience was astounding and it was fantastic.”

Depicting their musical journey the band has also published several books like ‘One Direction: Forever Young (Our Official X Factor Story)’ the book comprised of bands personal snaps, unseen photographs and backstage footage both from The X Factor and the X Factor Live Tour, and also encompassed written accounts of every member of the band. The book reached the number one spot on the Sunday Times Bestseller list.

One Direction has also released two more books ‘The Official Annual 2012’ and ‘Dare to Dream: Life as One Direction’.
