MUMBAI: Vh1 will pay tribute to the legendary heritage of soul music this Women’s Day. The channel will air a special episode ‘Vh1 Divas Celebrates Soul' on 8 March at 8pm, honouring five-cities of soul music origins - Chicago, Detroit, London, Memphis and Philadelphia.
The tribute episode will feature pop-icons like Kelly Clarkson, Jennifer Hudson, Jessie J and Mary J. Blige amongst others. The house band ‘The Roots’ will provide backing music for the episode. The special will also showcase performance by Chaka Khan, Erykah Badu, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, Boyz II Men, Estelle, Marsha Ambrosius and Travie McCoy.
Speaking on the occasion, Viacom 18 Media english entertainment SVP and GM Ferzad Palia said, “Women have left their mark in all walks of life including music. Some of the greatest artists in the world are women, right from Barbra Streisand to Madonna to Rihanna.
