Times releases Shahin Badar`s Laila

Mumbai : Times music has released Shaheen Badar`s debut album Laila, a blend of Arabic and Indian influences.Shahin, an accomplished crossover commercial female Asian vocalist, has featured international mixes of her popular tracks by international Mixmaster`s Doug Laurent and Tim Deluxe in the album. Shahin entered the UK mainstream and British Asian music scene in the late 90s with her team up on the prodigy single smack my bitch up. This won her a mainstream triple platinum award and the work headlined the fat of the land album which entered the Guinness book of records as the fastest selling UK album in 1999. The album was also nominated for a Grammy award.

She has also worked with mainstream producers as well as upcoming stars from the underground and Asian mainstream. Shahin`s Track `Pyar` featured in the sound track of the ? 2 million pound budgeted channel 4 film Second Generation, which also featured other Asian musicians such as Nitin Sawhney .She recorded the background score for Shyam Bengal`s Zubeidaa with A R Rehman. Shahin`s Alaap Chants were used on the SKY news digital channels coverage of the war in Iraq.
