MUMBAI: 'Criminal' singer Shruti Pathak recently released a new single 'Sawalaat' with her band Guzzler, which she formed last year. The song has been sung and composed by Pathak herself. 'Sawalaat' is the first song that the band has released.
When asked the reason for the delay in releasing the single, Pathak said, "Whenever I made up my mind to release a new single, something or the other cropped up from nowhere. Thus releasing the single was delayed. But now since the single is out, I am extremely happy with the response that I have been getting from the people."
The single has also been appreciated by many stalwarts from the music industry like Sonu Nigam, Salim Suleman and others. 'Sawalaat was released only after the band performed at many places all over the country. The music has been arranged by Sangeet and Siddharth Haldipur.
Pathak's love for ghazals encouraged her to come up with the band that would be especially devoted to this genre. "Till the 90s ghazals were an integral part of the Bollywood music scene, but then unfortunately it started fading away. This is why my band is trying its level best to revive the genre," explained Pathak. Guzzler will release one more single, but Pathak remained tight lipped about the time frame. "I actually do not wish to put down the time frame and bind myself with it. All I can say is it will not take me another six months or a year," she laughed.
When it comes to Bollywood projects, Pathak has a couple of songs in the pipeline. "I have recently worked with Himesh Reshammiya and Sachin Jigar, with whom I have not worked before," she concluded.
