MUMBAI: After regaling audiences with her soulful renditions for over a decade, singer-composer Shibani Kashyap is all set to delight her fans once again with a new album slated to release soon.

Comprising of eight tracks, the untitled album penned by popular lyricist Virag Mishra will feature tracks across genres like rock, dance, sufi and R&B. The singer will also collaborate with artistes like Rabbi Shergill and Taz from Stereo Nation amongst others.

Kashyap says, “I am currently working on the tracks and the album should be ready for release by August. The tracks are very different from each other and are composed by me in collaboration with some other artistes. I am sure people will love the entire sound and feel of this album.”

Continuing her long-standing association, the singer will release her album physically on Times Music and is exploring new avenues to promote it digitally. “I have a long relationship with Times Music and I had released an anthem for Lavasa Women’s drive last year with them. So it will give me immense pleasure to unveil my new album with the label and continue my relation with them. The album will also be released digitally as I feel that is the present and future now. Everyone is exposed to the internet so a digital release holds a lot of importance too,” she asserts.

She will soon run a special contest on YouTube for fans to suggest a title for her new album. The winner will stand a chance to win the album copy and other autographed merchandises by her.

Apart from her latest album, the songstress has host of upcoming bollywood projects. Kashyap is rendering for three bollywood movies including ‘Shootout at Wadala’ and ‘Shobana 7 Nights’. She has currently rendered an emotional and romantic song for the movie ‘Main aur Mr Right’ starring Shenaz Treasurywala. The track titled ‘Khuda Khair’, has been penned by Virag Mishra and composed by Kashyap herself along with her band ‘Sojourn’. The band has also used a special musical instrument ‘Israj’ which sounds like a ‘Sarangi’ to give the song a neo-sufi touch. The track has been rendered by reality show participant Swaroop who has blended a folk touch to the track.

The singer recently performed with Pakistani band Strings in Mumbai and plans a future collaboration soon. “The band played in Mumbai recently where I had also performed. We are in talks on a collaborative album or a single soon,” she reveals.

The multi-faceted singer is also currently co-hosting a music based show ‘Desi Beats’ with singer Chintu Bhosle. The show airs on Masti and features the journey of lyricists, composers and singers from the 90s to the contemporary era. “The show airs at 8pm and we aim to reveal interesting trivia about the featured artiste. I also get a chance to give unplugged performances along with my talented co-host Chintu Bhosle (grandson of Asha Bhosle),” she shares.
