Saregama initiates new property #039mehfil e samaa#039 with Talat Aziz

MUMBAI: Saregama in collaboration with Talat Aziz has initiated a new offering ‘mehfil e samaa’, an august musical gathering of the industry to celebrate Indian traditional music across the country.

It is a unique concept created for the fraternity and traditional music listeners who appreciate live Indian music. ‘Mehfil e Samaa’ will have performances by known artistes from genres like ghazal, classical, sufi, qawwali, folk as well as talented  singers who have never had an opportunity to showcase their talent.

Saregama plans to host ‘mehfil e samaa’ four times in a year. The event was recently held at Blue Sea, Worli in Mumbai.  Present at the occasion were Bhupinder & Mitali Singh, Adnan Sami, Salim-Sulaiman, Penaz Masani, Madhurani, Hariharan, Salim Aarif and Lubna amongst others.  The evening started with a performance by Talat Aziz followed by a mesmerizing jugalbandi between Ustad Rashid Khan and Hariharan.

The event is expected to showcase renowned indian traditional music artistes like Ghulam Ali, Pankaj Udhas, Anup Jalota, Ustad Rashid Khan, Hariharan, Pandit Shiv Kumar, Rahul Sharma, Shubha Mudgal, Gul Bahar Bano Farida Khanum, Chandan Das, Ustad Tari Khan, Ahmed Hussain and Mohd Hussain.

Talented upcoming artistes who will be featured on the show include Ali Perwaiz Mehdi  (son of  the ghazal maestro  Late Perwaiz Mehdi), Javed Bashir (Performed at Coke Studio Pakistan and was a member of the Mekaal Hasan Band),Shahzad Ali Khan( ghazal singer who resides in Europe), Ustad Imtiaz Ali Khan and Ustad Showkat Manzoor from Pakistan to name a few.
