Radio One launches 'One Mumbai, One Music'

MUMBAI: After recently announcing Play Your Music Day, Radio One has launched another offering to further pump the music percentage of the station. The station has announced  One Mumbai, One Music, a new property aimed at promoting music talent across genres.

Hosted by RJ Mihir, the weekend show will not focus particularly on Bollywood music alone but will offer music in the genres of funk, rock, Indi rock, mixes, Marathi, Indipop, Ghazals and several others. The show will also consist of artist/bands peforming live, talking about their music and reaching to their audiece. Listeners will also get an opportunity to attend one of the live gigs through various contests.

The press conference announcing the launch of the show, saw the presence of a host of musicians from across ther genres lending their support to the new property. Singer Alisha Chinoi, Uday Benegal, Luke Kenny, Vikas Bhalla, Sangeet Haldipur, Akriti Kakaar, Manasi Scoot and several other musicians graced the occasion  Alisha Chinoi commenting on the property said, "Such offerings are very encouraging for the artistes giving them the much required platform and giving a boost to the almost diminishing Indi pop genre."

Commenting on the launch, Radio One station Mumbai station head Bavesh Janavelkar said, "One Mumbai, One Musicis yet another example strongly establishing us a music specialist in the sea of generalist radio channels. We at Radio One strongly belive in supporting music not just by playing good music but also providing a platform for good musicians. The number of artistes who have come on board for One Mumbai, One Music is astounding. One Mumbai, One Music is a milestone in FM industry as it wil have largets contingent of artistes from varied genres coming together for one cause that is music."

Radio One managing director and CEO Vineet Singh Hukmani said, "We, radio one, want to be natural catalyst, a natural bridge, a natural friend between the musician artist and the listener and ensure the music revolution sweeping this country is given its due respect. We are proud to be a part of this era are therefore driving our vision of being India's only music station...

The station also plans to run similar property across all its stations.
