NEW DELHI: Radio City Hyderabad has identified the top five contenders to compete for the final title of its ongoing contest,the 'Fun J hunt' titled 'Navvula Don'.
In its bid to give Hyderabad listeners its very first fun jockey, the radio station has shortlisted Phani, Sanjay, Sabeer, Asif and Yellesh. Listeners can catch these five aspirants go live on-air on 'Whatte Fun Mornings' with RJ Vamsee from 30 June to 4 July 2008.
To cheer the jockeys, the FM station has a line-up of the state's top comic talents who will make guest appearances on each show to root for their favourite contestants.
Commenting on the idea, Radio City executive vice-president, national head - programming and marketing Rana Barua says, "Radio City has always been known to lead when it comes to music and introducing unique, innovative initiatives. With Radio City 'Navvula Don' we are looking out for a Fun Jockey who is a completely new category of a radio host altogether. Our jockey needs to possess a personality that is original and resonates with our 'Whatte Fun' positioning through a refreshing take on humour."
'Navvula Don' has been supported by a robust promotional campaign which comprises outdoors, on-air and ground support, which has been active on radio from 14 June. The City Center Mall has also been roped in as ground partner.
Starting 30 June, Phani (sms code 01) will be the first one to tickle listeners' funny bone, followed by Sanjay (sms code 02) on 1 July; Sabeer (sms code 03) on 2 July; Asif (sms code 04) on 3 July and Yellesh (sms code 05) on 4 July. Listeners can vote for their favourite contestant by sending a sms RCDON Code No. to 54646.
The round of sms-voting will be followed by the grand finale, where listeners will get a chance to watch the finalists in a live performance which will be judged by a panel of celebrity judges at the City Center mall.
