MUMBAI: If you mute the volume while watching a suspense or horror flick, you'd probably end up laughing instead of getting scared - working on background score is no joke!

Raju Rao, who has worked on several films like Raaz, Murder and 1920, recently composed the background score of an international film 'Where are you Sophia?' that premiered at the 62nd Cannes Film Festival.

Speaking about the music of the film, Raju Rao says, "For this film, I didn't do frame to frame music- sometimes 'less' is more. I only punctuated at the points which I needed to do." After working on films like Raaz, Murder and 1920, supernatural thrillers and suspense are his forte, he feels.

The Psychological thriller 'Where are you Sophia?' is the true story of a local newspaper columnist from a rural town called Highlands where  the protagonist mysteriously disappears. The film is directed by indian origin director Nagendra Karri

"When I saw the film, I really loved it - I thought this was the right film for me." As far as the commercial bollywood projects go, Rao is working on a Inder Kumar film and a Raj Kanwar film to be released soon

Director Nagendra Karri is equally thrilled, I am very excited and extremely honoured to be part of one of the most respected events of the international film fraternity. Where are you Sophia?' is my debut as a film-maker and Cannes gives me a very strong platform to showcase it to the world,... says Karri.

The film is produced by Karri's production house Eternal Mind Productions and features Amanda Boyd as Sophia and Peter James Elias as Charlie. www.whereareyousophia.com
