Private radio stations get ready to air PM's 'Mann Ki Baat'

MUMBAI: Ministry of Information and Broadcasting (MIB) has requested all broadcasting bodies (Radio and Television) to carry Prime Minister Narendra Modi's speech on their respective medium. Most of the radio players will be carrying the speech at 11 am on 3 October directly from All India Radio (AIR).

Association of Radio Operators for India (AROI) secretary general Uday Chawla said, “I am hopeful that the speech is a great start for FM stations as they are now permitted to carry news. The authorities are building on the national monitoring system for radio stations and community radio stations as they are more local in nature.”

MIB requested Indian Broadcasting Foundation (IBF), AROI and other bodies, to carry the speech of the PM and it was conveyed by them to various radio stations and channels.

MY FM is planning to air the speech across all 17 stations in seven states. Speaking on this, MY FM CEO Harrish Bhatia said “It is a proud moment for MY FM to air the Prime Minister's address 'Mann Ki Baat'. We look forward to carrying the PM's message to our listeners”. Other regional players like Odisha based Radio Choklate and North-East based Radio Misty are carrying the speech live and have no plans to translate it into their respective regional language.

Radio Misty CEO Nishant Mittal said, “We have a sizable population in the region that would be happy to hear the Prime Minister address the nation. The direct feed will be taken from AIR and we will air the complete speech.” Meanwhile, North-East based radio network Radio Ooolala is not carrying the speech.

National player like Big FM will be carrying excerpts of the speech which will be live. Other players like Red FM and Radio Mirchi did not confirm whether or not they would carry the speech (at time of reporting the story). In non-hindi speaking regions, Big FM will also have a panel discussion around the speech.
