MUMBAI: After attaining much success for its move to promote independent music, online radio portal PlanetRadiocity has launched a new show titled ‘IndieVibe’ on its station Radio City Freedom.
The show, starting from 9 February, will air on second and fourth Saturdays from 4-5pm and will play music from independent bands from across US, Canada and more.
‘IndieVibe’ will take the listeners on an ‘indie’ world tour bringing new, independent music across genres, languages and cultures. It will focus on putting up a collage of music across various communities. The show is produced by Planetradiocity in collaboration with Los Angeles based Indie rock band ‘KarmikYatra’.
Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Radio City SVP and business head Rachna Kanwar said, “We are very excited to be associated with KarmikYatra who are a Los Angeles based Indian rock band formed by Sandeep and Vivek. They blend Indian vocals with western rock and represent the global Indie sound.”
Providing a variety of music to its listeners, Radio City Freedom had earlier launched ‘Sounds of Bengal’ that brought out the best of rock music from Bengal.
She added, “Our other initiatives include expanding our horizons to folk music, we have recently tied up with the Blue Lotus festival that is happening in Pushkar, and also Kabir Festival earlier this year. We feature folk artists from these festivals and give them a platform to be heard across the globe.”
