Musical 'Jhumroo' starts today in gurgaon

NEW DELHI: ‘Jhumroo’, a musical comedy is a tribute to the versatile actor, comedian, singer, lyricist, filmmaker, and composer Kishore Kumar on his 25th death anniversary.

The daily show starring Gaurav Gera and Shweta Gulati in the main leads commenced today at the state-of-the-art Nautanki Mahal in the ‘Kingdom of Dreams’ in Gurgaon.

The show is in addition to the daily Bollywood-inspired show ‘Zangoora’ which has completed 600 shows at the venue. Conceptualised and directed by Vikranth Pawar (Associate Director on Zangoora), the two-hour show is an interactive performance that also involves the audience.

Produced by Wizcraft International Entertainment (Viraf Sarkari, Andre Timmins, Sabbas Joseph); the Apra Group (Anumod Gagan Sharma); and the Anil Raghbeer Group of Companies (Anil Raghbeer), the script of ‘Jhumroo’ has been scripted with dialogues by Darshan V Jariwalla. The project head is Namrata Ahmed while the choreographers are Ashley Lobo and Pankaj Guglani and Raju Singh has given the music.

Of the approximately 18 tracks used in the show, around 12 have been rendered by Ravindra Vilasrao Shinde, who was selected out of auditions in Mumbai by Raju Singh who wanted a voice very similar to that of Kishore Kumar. The rest of the tracks were the original songs by Kishore Kumar.

Namrata Ahmed told that around nine months of preparation had gone into the show. Gera added that he had to skip many other commitments because he wanted to salute the huge talent of Kishore Kumar.

Wizcraft International Entertainment director Viraf Sarkari said, “Our first production Zangoora saw a tremendous response, with over 600 shows already; and continues to draw audiences from across geographies.  Jhumroo is a light hearted musical comedy celebrating the spirit of Kishore Kumar.  He is undoubtedly one of the greatest performers we have ever seen and what better way to pay tribute to him with than, one of the greatest performance ever put on stage in India. Jhumroo is designed, scripted, composed and produced with the best of Indian and International talent and is an experience to remember.”

Essentially, the story is about Bhola who wants to win over Meena who works in the same office does not care for him. Bhola is an ardent Kishore Kumar fan and one day the spirit of Kishore enters his body and he is able to enter the India’s Super Singer show which is Meena’s favourite TV reality show. He wins the show but then admits it was Kishore’s voice and not his. His honesty helps him woo Meena.
