Music Today launches Monsoon Magic

MUMBAI: Music Today has unveiled a new album - Monsoon Magic, that celebrates the grandeur of the Indian monsoon.Set to music by master composers Shiv Kumar Sharma, Hariprasad Chaurasia, Vanraj Bhatia and others, the music promises to take listeners through all aspects and flavours of a monsoon - the communion of earth and sky when monsoon arrives; the very first drops of rain as they shower down from floating clouds; a gentle walk through the rain and a gushing downpour of rain when the monsoon peaks. In the first track, `Walking in the Rain`, Shiv Kumar Sharma brings alive the feeling of introspection and nostalgia. The second track of the album by contemporary star Rakesh Chaurasia, `Veil of the Moist Waft` captures the magic of the moisture laden monsoon wind that blows across the dry land, carrying its earthy smell across lands - bringing with it a feeling of joy, longing and catharsis.

The third track `Earth & Water` is a musical expression of various facets of the two elements of Pancha Tatva, earth and water. Vanraj Bhatia has struck a beautiful balance between melody and technique to create this enthralling track.

The fourth track, `Rahul`s Rainbow` by the young santoor icon, Rahul Sharma, brings out the emotion of joy just before the thundering of the clouds mellows to turn into soft droplets of rain. The last track of the album, `Rainswept` by Ranjit Barot, India`s famous drummer, has a vocal accompanying the tune. It is a magnificent blend of folk and Indian classical music, full of passion and ecstasy. The album is priced at Rs 295.
