MUMBAI: Senior IAS officer JS Mathur has been appointed as Additional Secretary in the Information and Broadcasting Ministry (I&B).
Mathur will succeed Rajiv Takru, who was transferred in August to the Health and Family Welfare Ministry as Additional Secretary and Financial Advisor.
The Appointments Committee of Cabinet has approved the assignment of Mathur, an official release said.
Mathur, a 1982 batch IAS officer of Madhya Pradesh cadre, is currently serving as Joint Secretary, Ministry of Drinking Water and Sanitation. He has also served in the Law and Justice Ministry and as Chief Election Officer in Bhopal.
