Lyricist Sanjay Mishra: Getting work is difficult in Bollywood

MUMBAI: Gorakhpur born Lyricist Sanjay Mishra came to the city of dreams, Mumbai with a passion to be a lyricist. After penning tracks for many serials, he finally has his first stint with Bollywood with the song, ‘Pyaar Tera’ for the upcoming flick Love U Soniyo.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Mishra said, “I started my career with serials now I am getting satisfactory offers from film. I have written the lyrics for one track ‘Pyaar Tera’ for film Love U Soniyo which was sung by Sonu Nigam. Also I shall write lyrics for two upcoming films.”

He also has been a lyricist for Ishq Actually with Rajeev Khandelwal and Mera naam chin chin choo with Rajpal Yadav and Mainu ek ladki chahi with Anupam Kher which will release very soon.

He got his first break as lyricist in a serial with music director Lalit Sen for all Balaji serials and film Dekh Bhai Dekh starring Gracy Singh,Siddharth Koirala and Raghuveer Yadav. Mishra said  that it was his passion for poetry during his college days that turned him to a lyricist. “To get work in film industry is difficult since there are a lot of groups. Every music composer has their own set of  singers and lyricist which makes it difficult to break through. But finally, things are happening in a positive way.” Till date Mishra has penned more than 200 songs.

Mishra enjoys writing romantic track but now he has penned comedy track for his upcoming Hindi films. While talking about his inspiration he jokingly said, “Sultanpuriji was from a village that was vicinity to the one I was born, so it had to influence me.”
