MUMBAI: Veteran singer Lata Mangeshkar felicitated her sister Asha Bhosle with the Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar award for her contribution in music. The siblings also praised each other at an awards ceremony.
The ceremony was held at Tilak Vidyalaya in Mumbai. Bhosle also received a cash price of rupees one lakh, which she aims to donate towards drought relief efforts in Maharashtra.
The ceremony had been organized by their younger brother Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar. He instituted an award by his name, Pandit Hridaynath Mangeshkar award, last year as he turned 75. It includes rupees one lakh cash prize and a memento.
Asha was enjoying the evening with her little dance and also her jovial words. She took the opportunity to thank her family for standing beside her through her tough times.
Mangeshkar and Bhosle had rendered their first duet for the film Daman (1951). Man Bhawan Ke Ghar aye (Chori Chori, 1956), O chaand jahaan woh jaaye (Sharada, 1957), Mere Mehboob Mein Kya Nahi (Mere Mehboob, 1963), Ai kash kisi deewane ko (Aaye Din Bahar Ke, 1966), Main Chali Main Chali (Padosan, 1968) and Man kyun behka (Utsav, 1984) are few other films they rendered.
