L Subramaniam, Bappi Lahiri receive Sur Aradhana Awards

NEW DELHI: A large number of renowned artistes including music directors Bappi Lahiri and Lalit Pandit, and singers Kavita Krishnamurthy and Richa Sharma were honoured with the Sur Aradhana Awards in the capital this week for their contributions to the Indian music industry.

Others who received the 19th Sur Aradhana Awards included maestro L Subramaniam, and singers Swanand Kirkire and Ashok Masti. Singer Shabab Sabri of 'Humka Peeni Hai' fame and singer Palak Muchhal were awarded with upcoming artists award.

Actor Anupam Kher received the Global Versatile Actor award while Dheeraj Kumar received the lifetime achievement award from senior BJP leader Murli Manohar Joshi. Stand up comedian Raju Shrivastav was also honoured.

“Sur Aradhana is all set to bring out some real gems from the industry this year. We are glad that we have succeeded in taking the awards this far at a time when we are celebrating 100 glorious year of Indian Cinema”, said RS Sharma, organizer of the awards ceremony

Sabri forced the audience to dance on his tunes when he sang songs like ‘Humka Peeni Hai’ and ‘Çhalao Na Naino Se Baan Re’.

Masti grooved the audience with his most popular song ‘Nit Khad ke’. The audience stood up when legendary music composer and singer Bappi Lahiri sang ‘Ýaad aa raha Hai Tera Pyar’. Renowned comedian Raju Shrivastav took the audience on a laugh riot with his jokes.

Later, Richa Sharma and Kavita Krishnamurthy mesmerized everyone with their voices, with Krishnamurthy singing ‘Hawa Hawai’.
