John Echevarria appointed as UPMG EVP - Latin America

MUMBAI: Universal Music Publishing Group has appointed John Echevarria as the executive vice-president of Latin America. The announcement was made by UMPG chairman and CEO Zach Horowitz.

Echevarria will replace Eddie Fernandez. In his new role, Echevarria will head the company’s Latin America creative teams along with its Latin division in the US. He will be based at UMPG’s Miami office.

Echevarria said, “I am excited to lead UMPG’s Latin music publishing operation. I look forward to building upon this already successful operation, expanding our business in the region and taking on the challenges ahead.”

Horowitz said, “John Echevarria’s extensive experience in publishing and recorded Latin music is extraordinary. His insights into the Latin culture, consumer and his network of contacts throughout the region, will uniquely position us for great success in the years to come. We couldn’t be more excited about Echevarria stepping into this role for us.”

Earlier, Echevarria has served as Latin America EVP operations for Universal Music Group International(UMGI) and acting president of the UMGI Andean region, overseeing the business operations in the regions.

Prior to joining Universal Music, Echevarria worked at Sony/ATV for eight years, heading their publishing operations for Latin America. He brought the company to the forefront of the Latin music scene signing artistes including Shakira, Marc Anthony and Estefano.
