IIFA honours Rahman as #039composer of the decade#039

MUMBAI: Internationally acclaimed and Oscar winning composer A R  Rahman was honoured with the composer of the decade award at the International Indian Film Academy (IIFA) awards held at Macau over the weekend.

Ashutosh Gowariker's Jodhaa Akbar stood out at the IIFA awards winning awards across categories. Rahman's soulful compositions for Jodhaa Akbar... won him the best composer award, as well as the best background score award. As Rahman couldn't attend the event, director Ashutosh Gowariker received the award on his behalf.

Singer Javed Ali won the best male playback singer award for crooning Jashn-e-bahaara... in Johdaa Akbar..., while Shreya Ghoshal was named the best female playback singer for Teri ore... from Singh is Kinng....

Javed Akhtar won the best lyricist award for penning the song Jashn-e-bahaara... for Jodhaa Akbar...  Jodhaa Akbar also bagged the maximum technical awards at the awards.

Resul Pokkutty, who grabbed the Oscars for his work in Slumdog Millionaire... bagged the best editing trophy for Ghajini....
Pookutty and Amrit Ghajini also bagged the trophy for best sound recording, while Purple Haze was awarded the Best Sound Recording trophy for Rock On. Leslie Fernandes won the Best Sound Re-Recording award for Race.
