MUMBAI: Radio Netherlands Worldwide (RNW) has entered into a new partnership with the Gyaan Vani radio channels promoted by the Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU). IGNOU is a central open University with about two million students in India and 35 countries abroad.

The stations will now broadcast RNW's weekly radio programme Earth Beat, Radio Netherlands Worldwide's sustainability show. Each week host Marnie Chesterton and the Earth Beat team fan out far and wide and consider what we create, develop, conserve and destroy; meeting and interacting the people who are making this transformation. The programme presents a straight-talking, intelligent and often funny look at a serious subject. While the show has a light touch it still manages to put across its message on a burning issue.

RNW Director General, Jan Hoek, says: India is one of the priority regions of RNW and for us IGNOU and RNW form an ideal match. Students are the future opinion leaders and therefore the most suitable audience for Earth Beat....

RNW is the Dutch international public service broadcaster  RNW works together with over 3300 partner radio stations over de world. Gyan Vani, the open university's educational radio channel, has a network of 31 radio stations with more than two million students in India and abroad.

Earlier, RNW inked a partnership deal with Radio Misty to air its flagship infotainment show - The State We're In - on Radio Misty 94.3 fm and Radio Misty Sikkim 95 fm  In April, it took on a new partnership with Incablenet (IndusInd Media & Communications Ltd. of Hinduja Group), which allows around two million listeners  to listen to the English programmes of RNW. In another deal, RNW started providing content to Gwalio based Chaska FM, whichl airs the monthly chart show Euro Hit 40; one hour of the latest pop music from the European charts, compiled by RNW and presented in English. Jazz and classical music from RNW will be heard as well.

Prof V.N. Rajasekharan Pillai, Vice Chancellor Indira Gandhi National Open University (India) signs appreciation of this new acquisition to it's range of radio programmes: IGNOU is a mega-university seeking to strengthen the natural and human resources of India through the launch of a number of academic initiatives in the area. Hence the agreement with Radio Netherlands Worldwide for the re-broadcast of EARTH BEAT programme through Gyan Vani radio network is timely and would compliment the efforts of the University in generating awareness and educating people about the serious environmental concerns of our times....
