MUMBAI: Saibaba Telefilms promoter Gajendrra Singh, synonymous with music talent hunts on television, now plans to diversify into other genres.

Singh now plans to make a feature film, a fiction show for television as well a different genre of reality show for TV. These three different genres are part of Singh's plans for 2008, he told www.radioandmusic.com in an exclusive chat.

Among his plans are a show for NDTV Good Times, details of which he does not want to divulge at this stage.

"I plan to do something completely different now," says the producer, who started his career with Antakshari on Zee TV. Singh pioneered the concept of the music talent hunt, with Sa Re Ga Ma Pa Challenge, Cinestars Ki Khoj and Lil Champs, his shows becoming very popular on television. In 2007, Singh broke away from Zee to launch his own production house and hitched up with Star Plus to produce Antakshari for Star Plus, followed by Star Voice of India and now, Chhote Ustaad.

Singh now wants to try his hand at something completely different as well take the home grown formats abroad. "That's our next step now. We are in talks with production houses and companies to develop new shows and soon something should be finalised," he says.

Singh, who popularised the national televised talent hunts much before American Idol became the rage, says Indian concepts can be applied anywhere in the world, if they are executed well.

Singh also has more plans up his sleeve. Watch this space for more.
