Gaana music streaming app launched for BlackBerry 10

MUMBAI: In its zest to achieve three-fold growth by end of 2013, online music streaming service Gaana is amongst many Indian players aiming to explore new opportunities in the ever growing digital music market. One of the leading online music destinations has announced the launch of an app for Blackberry 10.

Some of the features of the app are, access to over a million songs in more than 21 languages including English, Hindi, Bengali and Punjabi. Users can make multiple playlists and sync them across platforms.

Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Gaana.com head Avinash Mudaliar said, "Gaana is the first Indian music streaming site with an application for BB 10 and opens us up to a whole new audience.We released the Gaana mobile apps for iOS, Android, Blackberry, and J2ME phones about a month ago, and have seen over 500,000 downloads since then   It is has been our effort to be accessible across all platforms and this build is another step in that direction. We are looking forward to adding more features soon."

The mobile application of Gaana is available for Android, iOS, Blackberry and J2ME devices and gives music lovers access to songs including Bollywood, Hollywood, Tamil, Telugu and regional music.

Gaana launched their other applications for four major platforms in January and reported two weeks ago that the downloads crossed the 200,000 mark  The latest addition of the Blackberry 10 app will further maximize the reach of Gaana on mobile platforms.

Gaana team had been working on the app for a while now and hopes to attract new set of users.  “ We have been striving to to take the Gaana experience to the next level, giving  our users more functionality than ever before. We plan to launch the Windows application in the coming few weeks,” he said.

The company had recently acquired Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Malayalam content from over 90 labels in SIMCA’s stable. The association enables Gaana to access around 60,000 songs from labels including Star Audio, Satyam Audio, Aditya Music, Shruthilaya Music, Melody Music, Amudham Music, 5 Star Audio, Millenium Audio and Symphony Recording Company amongst others. The music service will offer some of the best classics of artistes like Illayaraja, SP Balasubramanyam, KJ Yesudas, Chitra and MS Subbulakshmi to new film songs.
