Furtados to host #039Con Brio 2012#039 for piano enthusiasts

MUMBAI: To encourage talented Indian pianists, Furtados will once again host its annual event Con Brio - The John Gomes Memorial All India Piano Competition... across five cities namely Mumbai, Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai and Bengaluru.

The selection will commence in June and the shortlisted pianists will be invited to Mumbai  for the final stages of the competition. Entrants have to prepare two programs – 'One prelude & fugue of J S Bach' of 11 – 14 mins from the book â€?Well-tempered Clavier,' and another is free choice where they have to present â€?short' pieces of 16-20 mins.

Winner will be awarded an 'Essex Upright Piano EUP 116E Ebony High Polish' worth Rs 4,85,300, while the runner-up will receive a cash prize of Rs 50,000.

The contest is dedicated to the owner of Furtados late John Gomes and all the proceeds of the competition will be donated to a charitable organisation.
