eMusic adds contempory classical labels to roster

MUMBAI: eMusic, a leading retailer of independent music and digital music service has added a number of new independent classical label signings to its growing roster of more than 27,000 free samples.

In its ever growing catalogue, eMusic has added classical labels such as the UK based Chandos Records, Telarc - the 49 time Grammy award-winning label and Harmonia Mundi (hailed by Billboard Magazine as one of this year's top classical labels). It recently also added Na?ve, Vox, Lyrita, Hungaraton, Supraphon, and CSO Resound, the Chicago Symphony's in-house recording label to its collection. All these additions will be available on the website worldwide, says the company.BIS, the highly renowned and respected Scandinavian classical imprint celebrated its 35th anniversary by offering more than two hours of free classical music to all eMusic customers. This label is credited in keeping complete recordings of composers like Jean Sibelius,Bach Cantatas,Osmo V¤nks¤ and the new saga of Beethoven symphony cycle.

Harmonia Mundi's exclusive free sampler is representative of their excellence in classical oldies as well as world class artists. eMusic President and CEO David Pakman says, "Classical labels recognize that eMusic, with its sophisticated adult customer base and unsurpassed editorial features, sells classical music better than any other digital service, For example classical represents 12 per cent of our sales in Europe and the US is not far behind."

eMusic also revealed that more than half of their customers who downloaded one of two recent exclusive free classical music samplers went on to purchase additional classical music which shows they have a large exposure and easy access to an audience that's interested in timeless classical genre of music.
