MUMBAI: Ignoring Electronic Dance Music (EDM) as an emerging genre is becoming exceedingly difficult. It would be safe to say that it is heading towards becoming the defining sound of pop culture. Unsurprisingly, this happening genre of music will be at the centre stage of this year’s International Radio Festival (IRF) with some of the world’s best electronic music DJ’s heading/ camping on the banks of Lake Zurich to broadcast their radio shows live from the Schloss Sihlberg castle from 4 - 8 September. This would undoubtedly be a rare opportunity for festival visitors’, listeners back home and online audiences around the world, to enjoy the electronic sounds that have taken over the industry.

Well known names like Derrick May for 6 Music BBC, DJ AngelZ for Pacha Ibiza Radio, DJ Hell for Ibiza Sonica Radio, Kissy Sell Out for Pioneer DJ Radio Ibiza / London, Normski for Hoxton FM,  and Armin van Buuren, John Digweed and Mark Knight for The Radio Department, will all be there- mixing for  some live shows. Apart from the live radio shows, there be the IRF B2B Forum, which offers a unique platform to deliberate and collaborate, network and discover trends about the Industry. This year’s discussions will focus on ‘New Breed Broadcasting’ and ‘Social Media Saved the Radio Star’.

Over 30 radio stations and their radio jockeys the world over will attend the IRF to broadcast their shows live on-air. For the first time, there will also be a special HD Radio Day in partnership with iBiquity, developers of HD Radio Technology. The HD Radio Day will feature several great US HD radio programs as a warm-up leading to the IRF.

IRF co-founder Darryl von Daniken said, “The IRF is excited to be presenting its 4th edition, showcasing the best music radio formats from around the world and discussing the fast evolving radio industry. The IRF continues to attract both top radio professionals and the general public to “Listen to How the World Sounds” all on one channel”
