Director Mahesh Manjrekar does a Marathi rap

MUMBAI: Based on the lives of Mumbai's mill workers, the music of bilingual film Lalbaug Parel (City of Gold in Hindi) was released in Mumbai on Tuesday.

The music of the film is composed by Vidyadhar Bhave and duo Ajit-Sameer who have composed for films like Shikshanacha Aicha Gho, Me Shivaji Raje Bhosle Boltoy, among others 

"Though this is not a film that heavily depends on 'music', music is still an essential element," said director Mahesh Manjrekar who has sung a Marathi rap song in the film.

The rap song called 'Mumbai:The city of Gold' highlights the plight of the middle class Mumbaikar's. In addition to the vocals, the lyrics for the song have also been penned by Manjrekar.

Lalbaug Parel is the first of three film deal that Mahesh Manjrekar has signed with DAR Motion pictures. The film will be released in both Hindi and Marathi on April 9 2010
