MUMBAI: Dhingana, the Indian social music streaming service has planned to announce new developments and initiatives across various platforms every quarter.

Revenue generation and user retention will be the strong focus of the music streaming service this year. Speaking with Radioandmusic.com, Dhingana co-founder Snehal Shinde says, “Last year our focus was mobile phones and we recorded a growth of 200 per cent. This year we will focus on all platforms and have planned-out new initiatives for every quarter.”

Moreover, Rohit Bhatia’s appointment as chief executive officer of Dhingana last month, was a strategic move by the company. This development has given space to Shinde to focus more on user retention with interface. Earlier this post was held by Shinde who is now the CTO.

Shinde agrees, “We bought Rohit Bhatia to compliment our sales, marketing and revenue, with his years of experience. With his strong hold in three sections he will help us drive our company. This appointment was a part of our business strategy. It was not any sudden move.”

There were recent reports that Google will join the bandwagon of music streaming services and the latest speculation was that Apple will also do the same. Speaking about the music streaming services of Google and Apple, he says, “Google will focus in US and Apple will be mostly on iOS. Existing music streaming services like Spotify, Pandora and Dhingana have spread across all platforms. We are more focused on one thing that is music services unlike Google and Apple. If they enter that will only help to make the market richer with content and competition will get stronger.”

Dhingana has attracted a significant traffic from 220 countries. Apart from India, significant traffic is from US, followed by Europe, then United Kingdom, Australia and Canada, displaying his growth.

This year will be a stronger year for Dhingana as they hope to strengthen their focus on revenue coupled with user retention.

Twin brothers Snehal and Swapnil Shinde launched Dhingana.com in February 2007. Dhingana is headquartered in Sunnyvale, California, and also has their offices in Pune, India.
