DD Urdu to pay tribute to 100 years of Indian cinema

NEW DELHI: Doordarshan is to telecast a series on film songs on its Urdu service to commemorate one hundred years of Indian cinema.

Each episode of the series titled 'Yaadon Ke Dariche Se' will be theme-based with emphasis on old melodies. Each song will have a caption giving detailed information about the year of production of film, singers, lyricists, artistes, and music director.

The first in the series on the theme of ‘Dard’ (pain) will be telecast on 1 July at 8.30 pm on DD Urdu, with repeat telecast on 2 July at 1.05 pm and 3 July at 9.30 pm. The in-house production is by Vijay Bhagawan and Surendra Sharma of Doordarshan.

The series will later cover themes like ‘Yaadein’ (memories), ‘Naina’ (eyes), ‘Mehboob’ (lover/beloved), ‘Raat’ (night), ‘Barsaat’ (rain), ‘Love’, ‘Khwaab’ (dreams), ‘Intezaar’ (endless wait), ‘Tanhaai’ (loneliness) etc.
