MUMBAI: The Chinar Circuit venture, Nine FM has started ground activity in preparation of the launch of its radio station in Gangtok in the next two months.

The soon to be launched radio station has also launched teasers in the Sikkim Manipal University, to reach out to the target audience. Nine FM plans to increase its visibility in the market with a 360 degree campaign just before the launch.

Nine FM in Gangtok will be positioned 'for the youth', similar to the positioning of Chinar Circuit's first station in Siliguri. Unlike the Siliguri station, however, the Gangtok station will have Nepali, Hindi and English content. Local flavour with be added with local RJs promoting local talents. The programming of the station will differ from its station in Siliguri keeping in mind the need of the locals in the region, say officials

In September, the radio station will launch an interactive online platform to reach out to its audience. The website will feature contests, RJ talks, citizen journalism and song downloads. Nine FM is in talks with major music labels to feature downloads on the radio station's website.

Says Nine FM CEO Bobby Gupta, ?“We are widening our horizons by entering the internet medium. We will soon launch in Gangtok and to improve our relationship with our listeners, the Internet is the best medium to interact on?
