Ashu Phatak to launch debut album, Sigh of an Angel

MUMBAI: Mumbai-born composer Ashutosh Phatak will be releasing his debut album, Sigh of an Angel, under the Blue Frog label on 16 October 2008 at Blue Frog, Lower Parel.

A graduate in Western Classical Music Theory from The University of Pennsylvania, Ashu has been professionally composing for the last 15 years. He is one half of the composer duo 'Smoke' better known as 'Ashu – Dhruv' in the business world. They have recently released the album Smoke Signals which includes the hit single Summertime Rocks and have scored many films including Bombay Boys and White Noise. Ashu is currently working on Chandni Chowk to China, which is yet to be released, also 99 and the animated feature Dream Blanket. They have also completed their first international film Broken Thread.

Ashu is known for his on-stage energy and theatrics, accompanying him on the album are flame-haired Australian artist Aurora Jane, Internationally acclaimed Jazz guitarist Sanjay Divecha, Ashu's long time composing partner and guitar maestro Dhruv Ghanekar and drummer extraordinaire Lindsay D'mello among others.

Performing live on 16 October at Blue Frog @ 10pm:

Sanjay Divecha on guitars, Lindsay D'mello on drums, JD on bass, Abhijit Nalani on keyboards, Vivienne Pocha on vocals, Carolisa Monteiro on vocals, Ashu on keyboards, guitar and vocals.
