MUMBAI: Indian Idol season one first runner up Amit Sana has become an active member of Goa based Hindi rock band, Sector 8 and is ready to launch an album.

We have the structure of the album ready and would be soon recording the tracks for the album,... says Sana. The album would be rock specific and would not have any other genres. With the Rock On fever still on, rock music is the new trend with ready market for it. We will strictly stick to rock genre as rock music is a western concept and we can only take the liberty to express it in our own language rather than tampering its structure....

However, I would take the liberty to sing the rock songs with a bit of Indian touch so that the Indian audiences don't feel alienated....

Hailing from a classical background and finally ending up being a part of rock band, Sana says, I was interested in the rock scene right from my school days but was never a part of any rock band and was anxious about it. After launching two albums, Sector 8 approached me to be the vocalist and we started jamming....

The album, combining elements of the rock and soft rock genres would comprise eight tracks completely written by lyricist Jahaan and composed by the band. Sector 8 is now a seven-member Hindi-Rock band comprising Reagan Desouza on vocals, Abel on lead guitar, Troydin on rhythm guitar, Austin on guitar, Melvin Mendes on drums and Axel on the piano and Amit Sana as lead vocalist.

The band however now plans to initially launch the tracks in Bollywood films and then venture into launching an album. The rock genre has flown into mainstream Bollywood and today film music get the maximum publicity and have a huge market. So, once the tracks are popularised, we would compile into an album," says Sana. Sector 8 is in talks with production houses like UTV and Vishesh Films to include their song into their creation.

Having participated in Indian Idol 1 in 2005, Amit Sana has already launched two albums, Chal Diye' in 2005 by Sony BMG and Yaadein' in 2008 with Times Music. This year Amit was also seen in the television space when he participated in the reality show Jo Jeeta Wohi Superstar on Star Plus.
