Adele's '21' is fourth best-selling album in UK

MUMBAI: Emerging as one of the most popular singers globally, British pop sensation Adele’s album ‘21’ has become UK’s fourth-biggest selling album of all time. The Official Charts Company has announced that she has overtaken Oasis’s '(What’s the Story) Morning Glory'.

According to data from the Official Charts Company, the album - which released in early 2011 – stated that sales of '21' have reached 4,562,000 copies in UK. ‘Rolling in the deep’ singer is now just half a million sales behind the third biggest selling album, Abba’s Gold - 'Greatest Hits', which has sold 5,046,000 copies, and the Beatles’ 'Sgt Pepper', with sales of 5,059,000, at number two. However, she still has some way to go to catch UK’s all-time best-seller, Queen’s Greatest Hits album.

Till date, '21' have sold over 25mn copies worldwide. Adele’s album tops iTunes' annual list of the best-selling albums for the second year in a row.

This is just one of the major achievements of the songstress in recent times. The Grammy award winner singer has been nominated for next month’s Golden Globes for best original song ‘Skyfall’ in the Bond movie. In February 2012, Adele was also listed at number five on VH1?s 100 Greatest Women in Music.

The British singer gave birth to her first child in October is reported to be working on new album but no date has yet been scheduled.
